Equipped with a 390 cubic inch V8 and a four on the floor this Mustang could get up and down the boulevard in pretty good time. Also available with a 289 that produced 270 horsepower or a six cylinder.

Based on the Plymouth Belvedere the GTX was considered a more upscale muscle car offering than the similar Roadrunner. The GTX came equipped with a 7.2L engine rated at 375 horsepower with tree stump pulling torque. The 7L Chrysler Hemi was available as an option.

1957 Ford Skyliner Television Commercial With Tennessee Ernie Ford

 

 Here's the original commercial for an amazing automobile from the old Tennessee Ernie Ford show- the 1957 Ford retractable roof Skyliner. At the time of its release the retractable roof was considered quite an engineering accomplishment. The Skyliner was Fords most expensive vehicle at the time with a base price of $2945. There are a handful of very desirable "F code" Skyliners out there with the supercharged 300 horsepower engine. Todays prices vary widely but a good one seems to fall in the 60k + range.

 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible. Known in its day for decent build quality and performance the Super 88 was the series mid level model. Powered by a 324 c.i. 4 barrel engine making 185 horsepower. You might be able to grab one in good condition for under 20 if you look hard enough. Good luck.

The Lamborghini Countach

The classic Lamborghini Countach. A view from the back in this illustration by George Cosmo Wagner.

 The Lamborghini Countach was a mid engine Italian hyper car produced from 1974 to 1990. Now the Countach is back in the spot light once again in 2022 as Lamborghini shows off the new hybrid super car at the Geneva Motor Show. The new Countach develops 800 horsepower from a small electric motor working with the gasoline engine. Lamborghini claims zero to 60 times of 2.8 seconds. Base price around 2.6 million USD- the first lot has sold out.
